THREE JOURNALS

Today is Earth day. It is important we take care of the earth because without it we'd be probably dead. I think it's time we give back. Simple ways we can all take care of mother earth are by, using less plastic. This includes, bags, paper plates, canned fruit, and straws. It's time we throw trash in the trash can and recycle things that should be recycled. We can pick up the trash we see around us. For instance, I like to pick up the trash outside my house and do my neighbor a favor by picking up their trash and so on.

I'M WORTH IT

I am worth investing in because I know I can do so many things, and I have true potential. I work hard for what I want and what I want is to become a more smarter, wiser, creative person.

ITS BEST TO GIVE AND RECIEVE

Today I helped someone with their masterpiece by giving them examples of masterpieces Dr. Preston would like to see and ones to stay out, such as PowerPoint and slides. I thought about my masterpiece and I have a good idea on what I would like to do and how I would like to present it.

THREE JOURNALS

"Water water every here and not a drop to drink" What I think this means is although we are being surrounded by something we cannot benefit from it, so its basically worthless. This relates to sacristy because you can't drink the water that is all around you no matter how thirsty you may be. This relates to abundance because the ocean is enormous. It's everywhere when you are stuck in the middle of the ocean. It goes on for miles and miles and its all water you cannot drink because it is toxic to your body and can kill you.

CURIOSITY BRINGS THIS CAT TO LIFE

I chose the Scholatstic article about curiosity because it was familiar. Curiosity is an asset because it helps keep the learner motivated and interested. There's that feeling of freedom when we are kept curious, and it makes learning a lot more fun. Curiosity is an asset because it helps keep our minds more active and it becomes stronger. Three ways we can build our own capacity for curiosity is by asking questions no matter how stupid they may seem. We need to embrace our doubts about the things we need to know. We also need to open to trying new things out to build our capacity for curiosity. A way we can improve Open Source Learning Academy to support curiosity is to have more teamwork, more breakout room time. Curiosity is so critical to achieve success without feeling drained at the end of the year but rather feel proud and joyful.

MY TOPICS CHOSEN FOR SCIENCE

As I scrolled through Unit 1: Matter and Energy in Living Systems I realized I knew a lot about science, but there were a few topics that interested and I would like to study more, such as, The Language of Chemistry, Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration.

THREE JOURNALS

I love relaxing, its one of the most beautifulness feelings in the world, but not all of us have the same likes for relaxing. I love going to the beach at sunset, but not that we are quarantined I like to play audio in the background and pretend I am at the beach with a fan on. I also like to sleep. When we sleep we aren't worrying about problems, or stressing, we forgot all the chaos in the world and get some peace, and if I'm lucky I might go on a adventure by dreaming.

The reason I believe some people like riddles, and challenge is because the see the bright side of things. I love challenging my mind for it to be able to grow. I also have a lot of patience. Unlike others who have very little patience and get stressed easily who might  not like riddles nor challenges.

You alone are enough. All you need in life is a safe environment with a roof over your head, food, water and yourself. One could see the world as a struggle to survive and be completely grateful for what they have therefore making that person happy. I believe its all about being grateful, not having jealousy over what other people have can make you happy. A wealthy person can have all the money in the world but not be satisfied because they aren't grateful for what they have.

HOW I MADE MY MASTERPIECE

Today I attended an online conference and it was an experience that helped me gain knowledge and I was able to ask questions. I attended three separate zooms. The first one, Jennifer Wadella, taught us about how to receive guests/volunteers and how to be a good guest. The second one, Jeff Luszxuz taught us about why we need Open-Source licenses, what is a license obligation, and the two original styles of OSS licenses. Lastly, I attended a penguin club. I learned about their pledge and how they started open-source in 2011 and why they did it. They started open-source because since technology was used widely in jobs this could potentially benefit us. I learned about the benefits of open-source. I learned that Linux is an open-source.

INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE

Today I interviewed my colleague, Jesus Garcia. Jesus Garcia is a student at Santa Maria High School. His key-interests are construction, and automotive. I learned that his role model is Max Ryan. He is an influence because he is professional and does similar things to Jesus. Jesus does not guard his safety and security online. He hopes his information is not stolen or used but doesn't think it's a worry. Jesus did not attend Open-Source 101.

MASTER PLAN

Phil McGraw is someone I admire because of his skills, like knowing how to respond and give advice to a successful and prosperous life. He is patient and knows how to communicate well.

Dr. Phil is a famous psychologist. He is known for his talk show, "Dr. Phil" where we hear client's stories, and Dr. Phil then goes on and says what he thinks is best to do in a certain situation. Although most people say this show is scripted, Dr. Phil still gives out good advice that can help me know what to say just in case anyone talks to me about their problems. "Dr. Phil reminds his viewers that what he was providing was education" so aside from being a show many people use for entertainment, it's also educational and can benefit the viewer.

Dr. Phil's skill came from practice and opportunity. I say opportunity because Dr. Phil's father, Joe McGraw, is also a psychologist who had his private psychology practice that helped Dr. Phil.

Dr. Phil attended the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had a scholarship because of football. I assume he loved football and was very good at it, making him want to pursue this career, but because of an injury, he then decided to practice psychology.

Dr. Phil did not take long to demonstrate skill. He had all the resources needed and support. At the age of 25, he graduated from Midwestern State University with a bachelor's in psychology. He then went on to earn a master's degree in experimental psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Dr. Phil was studying and obtaining degrees without a problem. It's obvious he loves what he is doing, which is why he is so successful in it.

The knowledge that helped Dr. Phil develop is psychology. Along the process of becoming a psychologist, you also learn things that will benefit your life when you need them. For example, whenever you feel like you lost hope, you can be your psychologist and help yourself.

A way I can intimate this person's path toward success over the next two months is RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. It's not something hard to do when you already love the job. I can practice with myself, ask questions, makeup scenarios. Capture my journey, find some interesting facts about psychology, and have fun with it.

Outcomes that I expect to be able to demonstrate are the ability to become more patient, and being able to communicate, by helping my social anxiety.

In conclusion, Phil McGraw has accomplished so much, and I admire him for his passion, patience, wisdom, and willingness to help other people with their problems.

THREE JOURNALS

I have the most astonishing dreams ever. Unfortunately, I will not be telling some of my most memorable dreams due to privacy and embarrassment, but rather tell you one I had a very long time ago about two people falling in love. I knew these two people family and would have never guessed that these people would be together, but in my dream they had kids, married, happy and deeply in love. I, of course did not tell them about this dream because then they were going to think I was a "mocosa". I was invited to their wedding a few months later. I was stunned. I remember telling my family about this same predication and it still seems amazing till today.

What makes an expert?

People are naturally born with the same knowledge as the others. No baby is smarter than others but what we do with our time and how good we are at something can make us an expert at practically anything. Opportunity also plays a huge role if you want to be an expert at something. For example, someone who is already born to a wealthy family doesn't ever need to worry about surviving and can have all the resources needed to become an expert. A different person, with that same passion to learn and become an expert, but has to worry about money a lot of the times is not going to get anywhere despite the eagerness to accomplish something they love.

Music is such a beautiful thing. You can have the worst day of your life but if you hear your favorite song you'll feel this comfort, and happy spirit, or at least for me. Types of music i love are often found at clubs, or at parties. It's upbeat, spanish, and makes you want to dance despite not knowing how to actually dance. Artists I love include, Kaleo, Ozuna, Maluma, and J Balvin.

MASTERPIECE STEP ONE

I would like to be able to master Algebra 2 by the end of this semester. I would also like to create my most complex dessert and perfect it. If that doesn't work out the minimum, I would like to do perfect carrot-shaped macarons. A way I can demonstrate what  I learned is by sharing what I learned, such as ideas, notes, and how I learned this new concept. I know how Dr. Phil is doing is by seeing his show, and although it's just reality T.V and not an educational show I see how he treats different cases and why. A way you all can see how I'm doing is a visual representation, pictures, and/or stating what I'm doing, learning, feeling in my blog.

MY ROLE MENTORS

Three qualities my role mentors have are perseverance, patience, and knowledge. A way I can develop similar skills is by working practicing being patient and finding motivation to not give up all the time. As for knowledge I can look up videos that explain information needed while writing notes.

I HAVE A DREAM

Last week I spent about three hours learning about nutrition. I need to write what I learned on that page. I also spent about two learning about the human brain and how you can lose part of the brain and still be alive but never the same. On desserts, I spent a good amount of time making and perfecting desserts every other day. I like to say it's a hands-on activity that will help me practice and know what I did wrong.

My goal for this week is to focus on the human mind, as I've spent a lot of time on desserts, and nutrition the past month. I would also like to be able to transfer my notes to my key-interest sections, soon.

I want to take at least an hour each day to answer the question, "Why do people dream?" to then publish what I think the answer is, based on my research.

THREE JOUNALS

The difference between a human mind and a computer is a human mind has unlimited creativity, imagination and a computer is only told what its supposed to do. A human mind worries and send us signals like the need for food, or go to the bathroom but the computer does not have any emotions. It can be broken or destroyed without fighting back.

St. Patrick's day is a religious holiday in Ireland. Its celebrated to honor Saint Patrick, a missionary and bishop who passed March 17. A holiday my family has is the Fourth of July combined with my birthday. Since my birthday is a two days before Independence Day we just celebrate both days combined. It's amazing, there's hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, family and we end it all with fireworks at night.

I've seen many people try to make meringue but they fail including my family. Meringue is a dessert made from whipped egg whites. After baking and making pastry's for over two yeas I finally tried a recipe that called for meringue. A lot of meringue! I risked it, these eight eggs could be a total waste or perfection would be achieved, there was no in between. I looked up tips on meringue and read whatever I could find about meringue. I added my first egg, then all eight. I patiently waited for the egg whites to form into meringue and loved the process. I prayed that this were to be a success, and eventually the meringue formed soft peaks and I knew it was perfected. I had perfected meringues my first try and I was very proud.

THREE JOURNALS

A way I know if someone is smart is checking their vocabulary, and the way they talk also tells me a lot about them. For example, if a person is introduced to me and tells me "sup?" I'm going to think that I should be talking casual, instead of formal all the time. I think being smart is one the most greatest things you can be in life, but it often puts people in risk, including myself. For example, I say a word that i thought meant something else because it sounds right and the word was so big. Who doesn't want to sound smart, right? It's a risky thing to try to sound smart and know what you're saying without making mistakes because you might get embarrassed and they might think that you are tying to hard, or trying to sound just as smart or better than them.

California is becoming legendary for so many people because of a certain county, called Los Angeles. There are a lot of famous people living there, and the pacific ocean is a beautiful view to look at. There is so much monuments and national parks such as, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Hearst Castle, and Cesar E. Chavez National Monument. It's nice to visit and live in. The weather isn't too crazy, but when it does get hot over the summer people will often go to the beach.

My most memorable ice cream I had was at Rite Aid. There was a scoop of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice-cream. I believe it was also my first one ever because I didn't know if I would like these flavors on ice cream or not. I loved them all! As the sun hit, I remember licking that cool ice-cream. The sweetness was just on point. It was perfect.

MY DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

In 1776, the thirteen American colonies declared they were to form a new country, independent or separate from Great Britain. Although they were across the ocean from Great Britain, Great Britain still owned them. The Declaration of Independence states how horrible Great Britain had treated them and why they did what they did. In 1774 representatives from 12 of the 13 colonies met. The fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated because of this movement. The declaration of independence explains that all men should have rights, and one shouldn't have less than these rights because we all deserve these rights. Great Britain was reminded and warned several times of how they wanted things to be different.

I'M GETTING GOOD AT THIS

As I read through my second question, I felt confused. It felt more like a poem than questions. These questions were questions that I couldn't answer because I didn't know what they meant. For instance, one line states, "Is that meat on your plate?" I asked myself what exactly could meat be of reference. Was the meat raw or cooked? Rare or well done? I also stopped myself when I saw the word ahimsa. I recognize that word but didn't know its exact definition. At that moment, I searched the word ahimsa on google and found this definition according to Oxford definition, "(in the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jainist tradition) respect for all living things and avoidance of violence toward others." What I took from that sentence is ahimsa is peace, and being a good person. As I was reading, I was imagining pictures in my head as a form of habit. That didn't work too well because there were many random and different activities happening. I am asked if we should line up at the barbeque when I was asked a phrase ago if I had meat on my plate. I am also told to look into Ashoka's diet. I had no idea who Ashoka was, but I researched and found not only his diet but his history and how he was king. (posted in key interests: history page) It also told me to read my Michael Pollan. I had no idea who this man was so, I searched, who is Michael Pollan? Wikipedia tells me, "...author and journalist, who is currently the Knight Professor of Science and Environmental Journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism." I saw the books he's written, and they all have to do with something about plants and food.

Usually, when I see a contract or an agreement, I don't have a choice about what it says. This time is different. I am able to change the contract if I think it needs some polishing, and we communicate with everyone else who is going to sign the contract to see if they are to agree. If I get enough votes the contact is changed. That way, when we do all sign the DECLARATION OF DIGITAL INDEPENDENCE we all agree.

MY THREE JOURNALS

I would love to be able to travel more often. The farthest I've traveled in oceanside for my niece, but regardless we only spent a few hours there. At the end of the day the reason why I love coming home so much is because I have a good bed that I wanted to sleep in. That's probably my only reason, but I'm sure a hotel can do the same for me. I wish I were able to see more of this world, to try different foods, not being able to understand other peoples languages, experiencing traditions, seeing buildings, having fun.

The reason why I believe many people complain about not being able to go out or having to stay home is because they miss having fun with other people that are not their family members. Personally, I don't have a safe family, mentally. There is always problems and I usually would always try to avoid them but now that we can't go out its been pretty hectic, but someone that has a loving family I am sure they aren't complaining.

The paragraph we wrote did not have agreement, although that does not mean it was necessarily bad. As the person in front of us wrote the next line, we had to come up with the next. This practiced our creativity, imagination, and there was also a good laugh. As soon as the first person stated the setting that took our brain to a more specific story, and it got even more specific the more we wrote.

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL DATA

Digital data is all around us. Examples are cellphones, video games, the internet, the world-wide-web, digital television, and so on. Digita...
